Everyone I know dreams of owning a house of their own. My husband and I haven't quite gotten to that point in our lives. I don't know when or how we will, but I look forward to that point in our lives where we can go to open houses and find a place to live forever.
Till then we will be living in apartments. Right now we are in a basement apartment with someone on both sides of us and two apartments on top, probably someone behind us as well. Some of the things I hear make me laugh. For example, a few weeks ago I woke up to the sounds of shouting upstairs. I only heard fragments of the conversation, but what I heard of it made me laugh. It was a young girl and her father arguing.
She stomped to her room saying, "You're ruining my life! I hate you!" she slams the door closed. and you hear him going after her saying, "Don't you walk away from me!". After that it became muffled. Now it was a sad situation, but who hasn't been in that situation before? I just laughed and got up for the day.
I do hear most things coming from upstairs, they are the ones with the most exciting life I suppose. Next door I do hear babies crying, but upstairs is the most entertaining. Today not long ago I heard something I think no one should hear.
I turn on a movie letting time pass slowly today and I hear a quiet rhythmic rocking sound above my head. Starting off quiet and slowly growing louder and louder. I just look up at the ceiling and laugh to myself. and then the rocking suddenly stops.
Listening to things like this makes me wonder what other apartments hear coming from my small apartment.
