I must say I do enjoy my job but there are a few things about it that make you want to shoot yourself at the end of the day. Today I didn't want to shoot myself, but at least threaten to do so.
First of all I had to work the morning shift which isn't fun in the first place. It surprises me that women go shopping at 9 am. Do they have nothing else to do???
So I'm told I have to give amazing customer service today so I nod and go to the fitting room to clean up the mess the closers left me the night before. As I'm taking clothes back onto the floor I ask a lady if she's finding everything okay. She turns around with this dirty look on her face as if I'm the most evil person on the planet. "NO I am not OKAY! I'm looking for a pair of longer shorts that don't cost a fortune!"
In my head I am regretting I spoke to this woman, but I smile and say there are some shorts that just went on clearance. "What's your size and I'll go get them from the back." I go to the back room and find the right ones. They are too high to reach though so I get a 6 foot ladder and move it over. I climb up to the top and get a few different colors for her to try on. On my way down from the ladder my flip flop gets caught on a step and I start falling down, quickly I catch myself a step from the floor bruising my hand as I do so.
I storm out of the back room to take this lady her shorts that don't "cost a fortune". I walk up to the front of the store not able to find her anywhere. I look outside and she's walking to her car!
I storm back into the fitting room and throw the shorts onto a rolling rack and bite back a few choice words I would have loved to say to this lady.
The things I do for people for 8 dollars an hour! You Old Navy shoppers should be great full!!

ReplyDeleteWow! Climbing a ladder in flip flops... scary! I hope you are ok. People do need to be more patient and kind to eachother. A few kind words like "please" and "Thank you" are gracious words of the past it seems. When will we begin to realize what we have lost in simple manners in our society? I'm sorry she was so rude to you honey.
